Spilt Milk

As always, I'm in a rush to get out the door each morning to make it to work on time. As a result, I have become accustomed to eating my breakfast in the car. Well one particular morning I had a nice little bowl of cereal positioned on my lap with my baby bump supporting it. I drive with my left hand and eat with my right hand... (not to scare all you Indy drivers out there!) Anyway, so as I had just pulled out of our driveway and was leaning forward to adjust something on the GPS, my large (and very in charge) baby bumper tipped my cereal bowl forward resulting in quite the gush of milk to spill all over my lap and rear. Well I dried it off the best I could with whatever napkins and tissues I could find in the glove box and hoped that after the 40 minute commute it would be dry. Wishful thinking!!! So I arrive to work and only some of the front has cleared up. I check my rear in my car window as I walk into work. Yeah...pretty noticeable. So I decided to just stick up my chin and walk in as confidently as possible hoping no one would be checking out my behind! Well it didn't help the situation that I arrived the same time all the parents were dropping off their kids to school. Even so, I just kept walking towards the school acting like nothing was the matter. Just as I'm about to step into a mini-crosswalk to the front entrance of the school, I hear a lady yelling "Ma'am, ma'am, ma'am!!!" while running in her black heels and flelling her arms all about. I knew what was coming and braced myself. When she reached me, she whispered, "Ma'am, you're leaking fluid!" So I say, "Oh, not to worry, it's just spilt milk." Then she said a bit more slowly, "no really, you're leaking fluid!" Seeing as I had confused her with my cliche, I went on to explain my breakfast eating habits. It wasn't until I had assured her my water hadn't broken that we went our separate ways.

A few highlights from the past few weeks...

The Indiana State Fair rocked! Tons of animals, rides and crazy food! Talk about a gathering to see who can scarf down the most unhealthy food possible. I don't know if there was one thing there that wasn't deep fried (except for maybe my slushy lemonade). They even had deep fried veggies!

The Colts stadium is amazing! The priests in our ward had the opportunity to play at the stadium with the Greenwood High School football team. So a bunch of people from our ward went to their game to support. It was an indoor stadium with a moveable roof and cushioned seats! It was built just within the past couples years and let's just say, "wow." And ladies... the bathrooms were awesome.

We had a blast with the Christensen fam (Cody's uncle and his family) at Helen and Conrad's wedding reception. They were married back in May, spent the summer exploring Europe, and flew back to Indiana just a few weeks ago for their reception and school. It was beautiful! We spent the night at the Christenesen home and went to church with them the next day. So fun! Thanks for having us!

Casey and Kimber (Cody's brother and fiance) came to town!  On Casey's way home from summer sales in Pennsylvania, he stopped for a day of rest and Kimber flew in to accompany him the rest of the long drive back to Utah.  It was so great seeing them.  We wish they could have stayed longer!  Danny, Monique and the boys (Cody's uncle and fam) joined us for dinner too.  Thanks for coming!  We love having family over!:)

Last weekend we took a mini-trip to St. Louis for my cousin's mission farewell. He did an excellent job and is so ready to serve the Lord! My sister and her family drove up from Tennessee too so it was definitley a treat to be with family for the weekend. The best part was sharing a hotel room... 4 adults, 4 children, 2 full-size beds. Total party:)

And everything in between... dental school/studying like crazy for Cody and working like a mad woman for me. This last month I cut down to 20 hours per week at Chase and started a second job at about 30 hours a week. I've had my eye on working for this particular organization (St. Richard's School) since last November so I am thrilled I finally get to work for them. Quick story... when Cody and I flew out for his dental school interview last November we happened to share a limo ride to the airport with a super nice lady, Patricia. Believe it or not, the limo was cheaper than a taxi! Talk about embarrassing being picked up in front of the school in a fancy limo, but totally worth it!:) So we're driving along and all of a sudden the limo jolts to a stop after hitting another car! Who ever thinks they're going to wreck while riding a limo! Well Patricia goes flying to the front of the limo, I dig my heel into the floor to hold myself back, and Cody sits calmly with himself safely buckled in... smart little cookie. I don't think I've ever buckled up in a limo before! Well after talking back and forth and learning of each other's backgrounds, Patricia gave me her card and told me to call her if I was ever looking for work in Indiana. Well here we are and I am loving working for her. She is amazing. I sit in her office each day and pretty much do whatever she needs me to do from editing papers to redoing their entire human resource filing system. The job varies from day to day and never gets boring. We've talked about coming in a couple times each week and doing some things from home once the baby comes, but we'll see how it goes and what we feel good about.

So in a nutshell, life is great and BUSY! It's true what they say... life NEVER slows down. This baby bump of mine is massive, and we can't wait to be parents! We had our friend take some maternity pictures yesterday and I think it went well. We get to view the shots later this week. Anyway, sorry for the lack of pictures. Our camera has been out of batteries and I never seem to remember to recharge them before we go anywhere!
