Ladies Weekend

Last weekend, I had a most wonderful time down in Brown County with the Relief Society ladies.  A family in our ward owns a gorgeous lake house and was so kind to let us stay the night.  It was breathtaking!  Hard to believe such a gorgeous piece of paradise is just miles down the road!

a relaxing boat tour of the lake

lounging on the dock and campfire

dinner on the deck with a beautiful view
warming up by the fire

such a great group of women!

late night chats, devotional, & games

following day: run around the lake, delicious breakfast, and
shopping in downtown Nashville

lunch at the sandwich place

We happened to be there on the day of the annual outhouse race... odd, but hilarious!

Nashville is such a fun, cute town (with randoms like Elvis walking the street;).
Brought back lots of memories from our trip we made for our anniversary a couple years ago:)

It was a fabulous weekend with some fabulous friends.

: the children's museum :

While going through our pictures over the last few months, I realized we have way too many taken at the Children's Museum and decided to lump them all together here.

What can I say... we love the place!
Every time we go, there's a new exhibit, new play area, new corner, etc. to explore.
The kids love it and beg to go... all. the. time.

Jaden calls it the dinosaur museum... for good reason:)

7 wonders of the world

fireworks of glass

carousal and ice cream shop

Science Works and the tree house

creek area

transformers!

Brielle discovered this kitchen set on a recent visit, and I couldn't help but remember some pictures of our J-man playing with the same kitchen set.  It was in a different exhibit at the time, but it's totally the same one.  He was 16 months at the time and she 15 months:)

They have something for EVERY age group... even down to 0-6 months.  It's seriously so fun!

more transformers and the new playscape

the kids LOVE the new playscape

the best part? our ride home always looks like this:)

bbq + pool + friends = awesome!

Every year we look forward to the end-of-summer pool party hosted by our awesome friends, the Goffs.  Brittany's parents have a beautiful (and massive) piece of land for the kids to run and play, the men to get their cornhole (or volleyball, football, etc.) fix, and a pool for the ladies to soak in the sun and chat it up:)  It's always such a blast, and we wish every day could be just as relaxing.

2010... six new(ish) friends with just a few kids running/toddling around
2011... more friends + more kids
2012... Cody was under the weather and so we didn't make it this year... so sad!
2013... more friends + an explosion of babies!

Jaden wasn't as brave as in years past, but he eventually got around the pool with his trusty turtle floaty...

and some peer pressure:)
Check out the awesome flotation devices!

They all had so much fun together!
(Here they are playing pirates)

Miss B napped the majority of the afternoon (which I thoroughly appreciated), and woke up just in time to take a quick dip in the pool before we packed up.  She was cautious at first, but was loving it in no time:)

such great friends make for great times and memories!

Thanks BGoff for another great party!!!

a look back on August

Can't say anything too eventful took place this past month, but here's a few bits from our August.

We have a park just around the corner from our home, so we often take a little walk to get some fresh air and usually end up there.

Here we are enjoying a little picnic.
Jaden wore himself out and zonked before he even got around to taking off his shoes:)

Miss B has become our little helper around here.  She wants to do EVERYTHING we're doing...
from weeding to putting the silverware away:)

J started preschool again!  He was so excited for his first day, and always looks forward to it.

Date night at Conner Prairie with the Goffs and Wades.
Picnic, live symphony, and great company made for a fabulous night.
(featured Tchaikovsky's symphony no. 4 and Conrad Tao on the piano... amazing!)

Hanging in the backyard:
slide, picnic, kiddie pool, and watermelon

In the kitchen:
J's specialty Mickey Mouse sprinkle pancakes with chocolate chips
friends having lunch
and lounging in the cupboards

a new splash pad opened recently and we've been there.. A LOT

Sundays

entertaining little miss in the parking lot

We took a walk one Sunday afternoon... I had to laugh when we caught up to Jaden at the park to find his trike parked in the proper place.  That kid kills me:)
(p.s.  Little B has the cutest curls!)

So we all know Jaden loves his jammies, but he took it to a whole other level when he squeezed on six pairs at once.  When asked why, he said he needed to have big muscles!

Took a little trip downtown early one day to wait in line for a free Cake Boss cake.
We didn't hang around to meet Buddy, but the cake was still so worth it!
Jaden insisted we add lots of sprinkles to it:)

Been visiting the dentist...

and dating him as well:)
Colts game!
(we watched the sunset at half time... pretty romantic eh?)

This girl is sassy and flirty... she makes me smile every day!
she likes to join her brother while in time-out
and wear his jammies... monkey see monkey do I guess:)
and she's been strutting the who in whoville bob a lot lately... so cute!

Jaden has finally settled on using his left hand consistently for writing/drawing.
This kid is a total goofball and has us laughing all the time!

I caught Jaden doing a full medical examination on one of his favorite dino guys...
even gave him a shot complete with bandaid.
It was adorable... especially when he used Mr. Potato head's glasses to take a closer look:)

and speaking of dinosaurs... J is stoked for his dinosaur birthday coming up!
Can't believe he'll be 4 soon!!!
