beaching in Cali

We were itchin' for a little get-away, so we got together with our awesome friends, the Naylors, for a beach vay-cay in Newport Beach, California! We found a house to stay in for the weekend with plenty of room for all of us.  It was so so fun!

Brooke and I were ambassadors together at USU and roomies our sophomore year.  She married Ryan who went to the same high school as me.  It's been so great living near them in AZ!

It was such a nice relaxing weekend.  The kids were completely entertained with the sand & waves.  We also loved eating out, shopping, playing at the park, and staying up late chatting & gaming while the kiddos snoozed.

Before we headed back home, we took a little detour up north a couple hours to surprise my parents in Bakersfield where they are serving their mission!  It was a last minute thing, but we just went for it:)  We passed Cody's childhood town on our way there, and couldn't help but stop and see his home from boyhood while we were at it.  So many memories with his brothers growing up here!

Well the folks were completely shocked and surprised!  We found their apartment community and started making our way towards the general direction of their place.  We were walking passed the pool and spotted my dad writing in his journal poolside.  He heard our voices and came a running... "oh good grief!" over and over.  It was so cute and so my dad.  Soooooo great seeing my parents and getting a taste of what life is like on the mission for them.  We found my mom back at the apartment writing in her journal too.  They were super surprised and it was just so fun.

The kiddos loved seeing Grandma and Grandpa and catching up over some lunch.

till next time Elder and Sister Moon!

Oh I just love them!  What amazing examples they are to me.

We sure love our visits to California. We will be back.. over and over I'm sure:)
