when the Easter bunny came

I love Easter!  I love reflecting on the Atonement of our Savior.  It's something hard to completely comprehend, but blesses my life each day.  I hope my kids can come to understand the sacrifice that was made for them, and know how truly loved they are by a loving and compassionate Heavenly Father who sent his Son.

We started off the season with a visit to the Mesa Temple to see the Easter Pageant.  It was so well done and portrayed the life of Christ in such a special way.

We attended with our neighbor, Lisa, who is investigating the church, the missionaries, and another sister from our ward.  The younger two kiddos stayed at home with a sitter and Jaden came along with us:)  It was fabulous... we look forward to going every year!

the kiddos participated in a few egg hunts leading up to the big day
this one was put on by the city of Queen Creek... tons of people, tons of eggs, tons of fun:)

checking out the loot

They had a bunch of blow up toys set up too, which Jaden thoroughly enjoyed.

couldn't resist this beauty of a pina colada :)

Then there were the egg hunts with the kids' preschools.

lining the battle ground ;)

Jaden and Cortez are best buds

the bunny made an appearance but the kiddos wound't go near him!

and one more hunt with the Boot Camp kids from my exercise class

dye me some eggs!

Easter Sunday was sweet, simple and relaxed.  We started off by reading 'What is Easter?' to remind the kiddos why we celebrate the special holiday.

Then to the egg hunt. They each had 10 eggs to find made especially for them.  They loved it!

Landon joined in a little later after he woke up for the day.

the Easter bunny didn't forget us!

some themed biscuits for breakfast

and Cody whipped up some fabulous omelettes

I love when General Conference falls on Easter Sunday.  It was fun enjoying the holiday from home, listening to our prophet and leaders of the church testify of Christ, and just relaxing with the fam:);  The kiddos were able to focus in for awhile with the help of some conference bingo:)

Easter dinner!

we did our traditional ham, potato casserole, rolls, green beans, and strawberry spinach salad

Earlier in the month, we found a fun coloring contest in the newspaper, and so the kids got to it and submitted their artwork.

They were beyond thrilled to find their drawings listed as winners in the paper a few weeks later!

and even more thrilled when they found out prizes were involved too!

she loves her bunny ears!  here she is hopping like a bunny:)

A (very belated) Happy Easter to all!
