We had the most memorable of Independence days to date! Our awesome friends, the McBrides, invited us and a few other families to their family cabin just north of us near Young. The adventures, laughs, good food and fun were many.
Check out this beauty tucked away in the woods... such a cool retreat!
We got in late, got settled in and kids to bed. The next morning it was right to play. The kids loved all the extra time with their best buds.
Love these ladies
The McBrides brought up their ranger. Everyone loved taking turns riding and exploring the amazing landscape around us.
It made my heart happy to see the kids have so much space to just run and explore. Their adventures included the tire swing, rock hunting, nature walks, bug catching, and lots of fun in the mud!
Cody's little shadow. Always:)
More fun on the ranger. Dad's took a turn checking out the more rough and wild outdoors;)
lots of late-night games
Then back at it again!
The next day we had the kids paint their rock treasures
They turned out super cute! They named them, loved them and made 'em their little buds.
I love how my kid's personalities are completely evident just by the look of their rock friends.

puzzles and drawing
Lexi and Landon are two peas in a pod. They love love love being together.
A few more runs on the ranger.
We sent the boys out first.
They went up to this really neat hiking spot with a gorgeous view.
While the girls hung out, relaxed, etc.
Then they they got a turn to go out with their daddies too:)
Many of us crashed that afternoon.
While Landon kept Daddy awake with his many faces:)
Then it was dinner.
and s'mores around the campfire!
The next morning was the 4th of July and Cody and I were on breakfast duty. We got up early and made over a hundred pancakes!
Then the kiddos got their festive very own hand designed t-shirts on and we headed out for one last adventure.
Ha, I don't think he seemed to mind much..
I hopped in the ranger with this bunch
We made it to our destination and went on a short hike.

We then came to a beautiful waterfall and completely natural water slide/pool. It was super cool and so fun to explore!
The kids took turns going down the slide. A little nerve wrecking and cold, but some couldn't get enough and went down over and over.
Such a great group to spend the weekend!
That night we drove back to town to enjoy some fireworks before heading home.
Grateful for our country and the freedoms we enjoy. Grateful for great friends to spend the holiday! Happy 4th!
